Online Workshops

To new students, welcome to WesternU!  To continuing students, welcome back!  At the Harriet K. & Philip Pumerantz Library, we want to help you be a successful student.  Please join our online presentations to help you locate books, journals, and other information.  Both presentations are intended to be brief, about 30 minutes in length, and provide an overview of locating various information and material.

In our first presentation, Your books @ the library, you will learn how to navigate in our new online catalog, WorldCat Local.  WorldCat Local allows users to locate and request books worldwide.  With WorldCat Local, “the whole world is open to you.”  WUCat, the online catalog available in the library, will also be demonstrated.  This catalog allows you to place holds on library owned material, renew books, and review material that you already have checked out.  This will be held on Wednesday, August 15 at 12 noon.

The second presentation, “How do I…?” will cover many of the library’s most used pages, including the Request an Article, Electronic Resources, Ask a Librarian, and Distance Education pages.  This will be held on Thursday, August 15 at 5:30 pm.

Because both of these presentations are online, there is no need to register.  Simply click on the links at the times listed, and log in as “Guest.”
