Over the summer the Pumerantz Library renovated study room 204.

We repainted and upgraded the tables and chairs. We improved the technology by adding a 42" LCD monitor with PCin and HDMI inputs for you to transmit the display from your laptops and HDMI or PCin enabled tablets.

This is the first room to be renovated. Your opinions are crucial. If you use room 204 please take the time to fill in a survey to make sure your opinions are considered for future renovations. Electronic and print surveys are provided in study room 204.

Cancellation of WorldCat Local

After careful consideration, the Pumerantz Library has decided to discontinue the WorldCat Local search service that was located on our homepage. Although the single search option was well received, the results were confusing and unreliable. Currently, to search for articles go to the Electronic Resources page and select an individual database to search.  Pumerantz Library is working on a replacement to WorldCat Local.  The replacement is coming soon so stay tuned!

The librarians can provide expert level training in EndNote X6, introductory training in Nvivo and have no training in SPSS. The librarians recommend WesternU users login to the WesternU YOUPortal, https://you.westernu.edu, and then navigate to Lynda.com for SPSS training.

Using Images in Presentations
Please note:  This is an online workshop via AdobeConnect.  Registration is NOT required.  Please log in as a Guest.  This workshop will be recorded.

Because medicine is a visual science, high quality images are an important aid in diagnosis and teaching. In this workshop, participants will learn how to locate images in SpringerImages for use in presentations.  Participants will learn how to create a personal account in SpringerImages.  A personal account allows users to save images and searches for future use, and create PowerPoint presentations and PDF files. Using images from AccessMedicine, MD Consult, UpToDate, VisualDx, and the library’s Images Research Guide will be discussed but not demonstrated.

If you’ve never used AdobeConnect, please log in early to run through the “tech check.”

Facilitated by Ruth Harris, MLIS
7:00pm - 8:30pm, Thursday, April 18, 2013
