Guest Speaker - Allen Callaci

The Harriet K. and Philip Pumerantz Library is proud to host a guest lecture by Allen Callaci. Mr. Callaci is a musician, professor, blogger, librarian and former employee of the Pumerantz Library. He is also the proud co-founder of the Rancho Cucamonga Public Library’s Star Wars Day.

Mr. Callaci will be on hand to talk about his book, Heart Like a Starfish, which chronicles his journey from emergency heart transplant surgery to recuperation to life post-surgery. His memoir is by turns humorous, heart-warming, and hopeful.

This book talk will take place Monday, February 6 from Noon to 1 pm in the Health Sciences Center – Compatriots Hall. Pomona campus faculty, staff and students may reserve a seat, walk-ins are welcome. COMP-NW campus students, faculty and staff may view the live stream in Lecture Hall 2. Light refreshments will be served on the Pomona campus.

Mr. Callaci will remain after the talk to sell and sign copies of his book. A portion of the proceeds of the sale will be donated to Cedars-Sinai Heart Institute, were his procedure was performed.
